Texas Governor's Mansion Damaged by Fire

Texas Governor Mansion fire The historic mansion home to Texas Governor and his top aides in Austin was damaged by a huge fire in the earlier hours of June 8. Arson was suspected in the governor's mansion fire No one got injured. All officials including Governor Rick Perry and State First Lady Anita Thigpen Perry didn't live in the residence as the house of Greek Revival style was undergoing a massive $10 million renovation since last fall. Texas Governor's Mansion, designated as a National Historic Landmark, was built at 10th and Colorado of downtown Austin in 1856. Ever since, it has housed every Texas governor with the fifth governor Elisha Marshall Pease and his family becoming its first resident. Source: BBC & News8Austin
