Formula 1 - 2010 Calender

The Formula 1 season 2010 is set to commence with the first race in Bahrain on 14th March.

Stretched over a period of 8 months, F1 will travel across 19 destinations across the world to find the new F1 champion.

The detailed calender is attached below

Yeongam in South Korea will be the new entrant into the F1 calender.
There has been a major shake up in the team structure in F1 this year.

Mercedes have put up a new independent team this year - with Micheal Schumacher in the saddle. With Michael back after a hiatus of three years, the competition is bound to increase on the tracks!!

Ferrari have recruited the services of Fernando Alonso along with their existing driver Filipe Massa. That has left ex-champion Kimi Raikkonen without a drive!! And Alonso will finally drive in a competitive car since leaving McLaren Mercedes two years back!!

McLaren Mercedes team have the champions of the last two editions - Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton - driving from them. Both of them will strive hard to win the F1 drivers championship again!! And McLaren look strong to win the constructors championship!!

There are 4 new teams on the grid this year - Lotus Racing, US F1 Team, Campos Meta and Virgin Racing!!

All in all it promises to be an exciting season!!

And hope that the most deserving man and team may win the championship!!

Farcical Laws

Well, you know laws are farcical when you read the line below about a criminal!!

==
The arrest clearance would come once the responsibilities of the accused are handed over to another official as the budget session begins on Feb. 15.

Next thing that you know is a gangster or a mobster would be asked to relieve his responsibilities to a team mate - to carry on his dirty business - after he is arrested!!

Time and again, we make laws which has blatant loopholes like the one above!!

And then we cry, our justice system is not strong enough to tackle the law breakers!!

Sports and Money

Well, Sports is something I have been following for some time!!

To mention a few, Cricket, Football, F1 have caught my attention...

But American Football is something which has never got me excited.

But this new article says it all - a sport (read American Football) which may not be popular across the globe can manage to attract maximum ad revenues!!

One line said it all - Advertising with this sport gives you access to consumers in the richest country in the world!!

Selling a Town

Now, that was a new thing that I heard!!

You must have heard about people selling homes, cars, companies - but selling a town is a different story altogether!!

The European country of Latvia has managed to sell a town - which goes by the name Skundra!!

It was a Russian Military town during the Cold War era - when Russia was still USSR!!

It has been left unoccupied since the Russian's withdrew from Latvia in 1994 - and has since been called a "Ghost Town"!!

Now this is one place whose progress will be monitored closely in the coming years - given the publicity it has derived over its sale!!

Practicing Polygamy

Well, the word that immediately comes to my mind after "Practicing" is some kind of religion!!

Say, Practicing Christian or Practicing Hindu and so on!!

Today I read a news article, with utter disbelief to say the least, labeling the South African President Jacob Zuma as an active practitioner of Polygamy!!!

Being polygamous is one thing, being an active practitioner is a completely other thing !!

No one exemplifies such a sad practice more than Zuma who has fathered 20 children!!

What next?? The world is so large, its practices and cultures so vast - only God knows what all is done across the world!!

Learing to Delegate

Well, all of us must have heard about delegation!!

The dictionary defines delegation as - To commit or entrust to another

I personally think delegation is a skill!! And deciding what is to be delegated and what is not to be delegated is an art!!

Experience will play a major role in this aspect.

A few points to help one start delegating are -
  • Let Go!!
  • Trust people!!
And some points to make delegation effective and helpful are -
  • Identify your team, enlist them in your cause, get them started and let them take off!!
  • Share the information!!
  • Communicate the objectives and the expected outcome!!
  • Review the progress!!
  • Don't micromanage and over delegate!!
