Brigitte Bardot, a four-time convict for inciting racial hatred, was convicted again for the fifth time under French anti-racism laws which prevent inciting hatred and discrimination on racial or religious or racial grounds. The 73-year-old former French actress and animal rights activist was fined US$23,325 and ordered to pay $1,555 in damages to the anti-racism group MRAP by a Parisan court. Referring to the Muslim feast of Aid el-Kebir which was celebrated by slaughtering sheep, Brigitte Bardot, also Bridget Bardot, said France is "tired of being led by the nose by this population that is destroying us, destroying our country by imposing its acts" in a December 2006 letter to Nicolas Sarkozy, then the Interior Minister but now the president.
